           The narrative titled "Tata Selo" authored by Rogelio Sikat portrays the existence of a farmer whose sole desire is to cultivate the land that was sold to the captain due to his ailing wife. In his daily routine, he consistently showcases his ability to farm despite his advanced age. Motivated by the aspiration to reclaim their land, he persists in working, yet financial constraints impede his progress. Eventually, driven by frustration and provoked by the captain who belittled his abilities and punished him for resisting replacement, he takes the drastic step of killing the captain. Subsequently, he finds himself imprisoned. Tata Selo's traditional beliefs are seen as old-fashioned and don't fit with the changing times. The story explores the differences between generations, clashes of culture, and the unstoppable march of progress, making Tata Selo face the tough truth that the world is quickly moving on without him. He serves as a reflection showing how tricky it is to keep our cultural traditions while also dealing with the changes that naturally happen. It gives readers a peek into the difficulties people face as they try to handle a world that's changing really fast.

 

        After reading the story, I understand the pain and suffering of Tata Selo. I think Tata Selo shouldn't have to go through such bad things. Like many others, he was also mistreated by this tough society. He only defended himself when the captain treated him unfairly and hit him. The unfairness and cruelty in the world forced even the old man to do something really wrong. If the government officials used their power to help people, Tata Selo could get the justice he deserves for himself and his daughter. The story also teaches an important lesson about adapting to change while still respecting traditional values. It reminds us that societal progress is bound to happen, and as individuals, we need to find a balance between holding onto our cultural roots and embracing the advancements of the modern world. "Tata Selo" emphasizes the importance of being open-minded, empathetic, and understanding across generations to bridge the gap between tradition and progress.

By understanding the story of Tata Selo, I've been reflecting on what the story teaches us. It made me think about how unfairness and cruelty impact people, just like Tata Selo. As I think about the characters, I see how they represent different things in the story. "Tata Selo" guides me in finding a balance between tradition and modernity as I face challenges in my academic and personal growth.  By being adaptable and resilient like Tata Selo, I can navigate the complexities of our fast-changing world without forgetting the important lessons from tradition.
